Tomato iruLi saaru(one type)


  1. tomato-4
  2. onion(irulli)-1
  3. fresh grated coconut-1/2 cup
  4. jeera-1/2tsp
  5. menasina pudi-3/4 tsp (saaru pudi or rasam powder)
  6. corriander leaves -few
  7. curry leaves -few
  8. bella(jagerry)-small nimbu size
  9. salt to taste


  1. grind together onion,tomato,coconut,jeera, in mixy to a fine paste.
  2. take the ground paste in a kadai
  3. add menasina pudi,bella,salt add curry leaves ,corriander leaves
  4. add enough water and boil
  5. give oggarane(seasoning) in ghee

for oggarane(seasoning)

heat 2 tsp of ghee, in oggarane spoon (laddle)add sasivae(mustard seeds),jeera -1 tsp each 1 -pinch hing(asafotieda) after it splutters, pour over hot saaru
