Tomato Chutney Sauce


  1. ripe red tomatoes-1 kg
  2. green chillies -slit-6
  3. red chilli powder-2 tsps
  4. turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  5. vinegar-1 cup
  6. oil-1 cup
  7. salt-1 1/2 tblsps
  8. sugar- 1/2 cup

grind in vinegar to a paste

  1. garlic cloves-6
  2. ginger piece-1 inch
  3. cumin seeds-1 tblsps
  4. mustard seeds-1/2 tblsp


  1. wash ,wipe and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
  2. heat the oil ,fry the chillies for 1 minute.
  3. add the ground paste and fry until the oil surfaces.
  4. add the tomatoes and fry until they turn soft.
  5. add the salt,sugar,chilly and turmeric powders,and cook for a few minutes.
  6. add the vinegar and simmer on low heat until a thick gravy is formed.
  7. cool and pour into clean and dry bottles.
