Mavina Kayi Thokku


  1. huli(sour) mavina kayi(raw green mangoes)- 2 big
  2. salt-1/4 cup
  3. red chille-5 to 10 or red chilli powder-1/2 cup
  4. turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  5. menthya (methi)seeds-1 tsp
  6. sasivae-1 tsp
  7. hing(asafotieda)-1 tsp
  8. jeera-1 tsp
  9. pepper corns-1 tsp
  10. oil-1/2 cup
  11. curry leaves-few


  1. wash and spread the mangoes over a cloth to remove excess moisture
  2. grate the mangoes after removing the sippae(skin)
  3. dry roast red chilles,menthya,jeera,pepper together and powder it
  4. in a kadai,heat oil, add sasivae when it spluterrs,add grated mango,fry for a while stir until moisture evaporates.
  5. then add hing,salt,curry leaves,turmeric powder,fry for a while
  6. now add the roasted powder mix well fry for a while (stir until oil oozes out)
  7. cool and use it
  8. store in a dry bottle
