ingredients for hurrana

  1. kadale belle(bengal gram dhal)-1 cup
  2. sugar-1 cup
  3. ellakki powder-1 tsp

method

  1. boil dhal in enough water in pressure cooker
  2. pour off excess water, allow to cool and grind to a smooth paste
  3. add sugar to the dhal ,cook till the mixture becomes dry
  4. add ellakki powder
  5. prepare small lemon sized balls from the mixture.

ingredients for kannaka

  1. maida-1 cup
  2. ghee-1tsp
  3. refined oil-1/4 cup
  4. salt-a pinch
  5. turmeric powder-a pinch.

method

  1. mix together maida ghee,salt,turmeric powder,oil in a bowl
  2. add water gradually and knead to a smooth dough
  3. keep closed for sometime
  4. make balls out of dough.
  5. keep one ball of hurrana inside maida dough ball
  6. cover and seal well
  7. pat on top of thick plastic sheet or greased plantain leaf
  8. roll it out like a thin chappathi using rice flour for dusting
  9. fry on hot tava on both the sides.
