BUTTER ICING

Basic butter icing

ingredients

  1. margarine-100gms
  2. icing sugar-200gms
  3. butter-2 tblsp

method

  1. smoothen all ingredients well by hand.

variations

1.vanilla butter icing

add few drops of vanilla essence to the basic icing

2. chocolate butter icing

add 2 tblsp cocoa powder ,1 tblsp extra butter to the above icing

3. coffee butter icing

add 1 tblsp instant coffee powder to the above icing except vanilla essence

4. lemon butter icing

replace vanilla essence with 1 to 2 tsps of lemon juice

5.strawberry icing

add strawberry essence and pink colour to the basic icing

6.pineapple icing

add pineapple essence and yellow colour to the basic icing

and can add apple green colour,cocheneal (baby pink),etc for variations

GLAZED ICING

Ingredients

  1. icing sugar- 2 1/2 cups
  2. hot water-2 tblsp
  3. essence-few drops, colour (whatever the cake that essence and colour or vanilla essence to all cakes)

Method

  1. add hot water to icing sugar little by little till you get the spreading consistency,add colour,essence,mix well
  2. pourimmediately on cooled cake,cool for a while,allow to set.
