1. raw rice-1 kg or 1 cup or 4 cups
  2. uddina belle(urad dhal)-1pavu or 1/4 cup or 11/4 cup
  3. yeldhara(belegara) powdered-1/2 tsp to 1 cup rice powder


  1. wash and soak for 2 hours ,(both rice and uddina belle )separetly
  2. drain water through a colander
  3. dry both separetly in a shady place(inside the house) by spreading over a cloth
  4. fry both separetly ,the rice should puffs up lightly and urad turns light brown
  5. mix both
  6. mill them together.into a fine powder
  7. sieve the powder

Method for making chakkuli

  1. chakkuli powder-11/4 cup
  2. salt-3 tsp
  3. hing-1/4 tsp
  4. jeera-1 tsp
  5. RG ghee or hot oil-lemon size
  6. oil for frying
  1. take powder in a broad basin or bowl
  2. keep hing in a table spoon of water
  3. add salt,jeera, mix well.
  4. add hing
  5. add RG ghee or heated oil to the above mix ,blend well with hand till it is mixed evenly
  6. sprinkle water and knead to a thick dough ,knead well
  7. put into a greased chakkuli maker
  8. squeeze this dough through greased "chakkuli maker"on a thick polythene sheet

heat the oil in a kadai

  1. deep fry in hot oil ,few at a time
  2. when crisp take out from oil and place on a colander or absorbent paper
  3. when becomes cool store in an air tight containers
