Chakkuli
ingredients
- rice-1 kg or 1 cup or 4 cups
- uddina belle(urad dhal)-1pavu or 1/4 cup or 11/4 cup
method
- wash and soak for 2 hours ,(both rice and uddina belle )separetly
- drain water through a colander
- dry both separetly in a shady place(inside the house) by spreading over a cloth
- fry both separetly ,the rice should puffs up lightly and urad turns light brown
- mix both
- mill them together.into a fine powder
- sieve the powder
method for making chakkuli
- chakkuli powder-11/4 cup
- salt-3 tsp
- hing-1/4 tsp
- jeera-1 tsp
- butter or hot oil-lemon size
- oil for frying
- take powder in a broad basin or bowl
- keep hing in a table spoon of water
- add salt,jeera, mix well.
- add hing
- add buter or heated oil to the above mix ,blend well with hand
till it is mixed evenly
- sprinkle water and knead to a thick dough ,knead well
- put into a greased chakkuli maker
- squeeze this dough through greased "chakkuli maker"on a thick polythene sheet
heat the oil in a kadai
- deep fry in hot oil ,few at a time
- when crisp take out from oil and place on a colander or absorbent paper
- when becomes cool store in an air tight containers
